Reid Rutherford has had a diverse range of work experience spanning different industries. In 1999, they served as the Director of Finance and a board member at Church Communication Network. From 1998 to 2014, they were a board member for Pepperdine Seaver Board of Visitors, providing advisory support to the dean and faculty of Pepperdine's Seaver College. In 2003, they became a board member for InspX, a role they held until 2014. Starting in 2003, Rutherford also joined ConnectSV (formerly Silicon Valley Prayer Breakfast) as a board member, where they contributed to organizing events featuring notable speakers. In 2006, they co-founded Photon Energy Services, a business focused on providing solar electric services. Reid served as the CEO and founder of Photon until 2017. In 2014, Rutherford joined the board of directors at BigRentz, Inc., the largest U.S. online construction equipment rental marketplace. Reid also became a partner at 1Flourish Capital in 2016, an investment fund targeting high potential companies with a focus on strong personal character and effective business cultures. Finally, in 2017, they became the Chief Executive Officer at Melzi Corporation, a medtech developer known for their first product, the Needle Finder, which improves surgical safety by allowing surgeons to quickly locate and retrieve lost surgical suture needles. From 2015 to 2017, Rutherford was a board member for DSP Concepts, a company offering advanced audio software for digital products in various markets.
Reid Rutherford obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with Cum Laude honors from Pepperdine University from 1973 to 1975. Then, Reid pursued a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, attending from 1979 to 1981.
