Tamar L. Kutz

VP, Quality & Operations, Decatur Memorial Hospital at Memorial Health

Tamar Kutz is vice president, quality and operations at Decatur Memorial Hospital. She oversees strategic leadership of quality, hospitality, perioperative services, facilities and the hospitalist program.

Prior to joining DMH, Kutz served as system administrator, Home Services and Post-Acute Care. She was responsible for Memorial Home Services (home health, home hospice, home infusion and home, medical equipment and supplies), advanced care planning, palliative care and social services, wound care and pain clinic.

Kutz earned a master’s degree in business administration from Benedictine University at Springfield and a bachelor of arts degree in business management from the University of Illinois, Springfield, as well as a bachelor of science degree in health administration from Lincoln College-Normal, where she graduated magna cum laude.

Kutz is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. In 2016, she was named among the New Voices of Quality Honorees by the American Society for Quality. She has led multiple cross-functional quality projects, including those that have led to improvements in patient outcomes with diabetes and depression. She has had multiple publications, including a 2018 article published by the British Medical Journal titled “Improving Comprehensive Care for Patients with Diabetes.”

She has served on Memorial’s Be Aware Women’s Fair Committee for nine years and is a former member of the Friends of Memorial Board. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
