Eric Oetter enters his fifth season with the Memphis Grizzlies and third as director of sports medicine. As a dual-credentialed performance therapist, Oetter directs an interdisciplinary team of athletic trainers, performance coaches, physical therapists, sport scientists and dietetic chefs in the pursuit of health optimization and performance longevity for the Grizzlies’ athletes.
Before coming to Memphis, Oetter was a Ph.D. candidate in Georgia Tech’s Applied Physiology program, focusing his studies on the brain and nervous system rehabilitation. Oetter earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the Emory University School of Medicine. He also holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Georgia and is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
