Doug McGowen

Doug McGowen currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) since December 2022. Prior to this role, Doug held the position of Chief Operating Officer for the City of Memphis from January 2016 to December 2022 and served as the Executive Director of Innovate Memphis from October 2011 to December 2015. Doug's military career includes significant leadership roles such as Commanding Officer at Naval Support Activity Mid-South and Captain in the US Navy, where duties spanned from 1985 to 2011. Notable positions include Chief Operating Officer at Navy Recruiting Command and VP of Human Resources at Navy Personnel Command. Doug earned a Master’s degree in National Security & Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute.
