As the Director of Literacy at Memphis Merit Academy Charter School, Erika oversees initiatives to enhance student engagement and achievement in reading. With extensive consulting experience at e320 Consulting and previous roles including Manager of Educational Partnerships at the Center for the Collaborative Classroom and various positions within Shelby County Schools, Erika has demonstrated proficiency in facilitating professional development, coaching educators, and driving school improvement through data-driven practices. Erika holds multiple advanced degrees in Educational Leadership and Administration from Union University and other institutions, underpinning a robust commitment to educational excellence.

OUR SCHOOL Memphis Merit Academy Charter School is a new kindergarten through eighth grade academically challenging, highly structured, and joyful elementary school in Memphis, TN. Through rigorous academics, high quality instruction, and character development, Memphis Merit Academy ensures all kindergarten through eighth grade students achieve the academic skills, knowledge, and moral foundation to be firmly on the path to college after matriculating through our school. OUR MISSION Through rigorous academics, high-quality instruction, and character development Memphis Merit Academy Charter School educates all students for success in high school, college, and life. OUR GROWTH In August 2019, Memphis Merit Academy Charter School will open its doors to 120 kindergarten and first grade students, and we will grow by 60 students until we reach full capacity of 540 students during the 2027-2028 school year. We are actively building a founding team that shares our belief that with rigorous academics, high quality instruction, and charter development all students are capable of excelling in high school, college, and life.
