Clara Scott Chair of Church & Ministry Professor of Christian Education, Spiritual Formation, and Youth Ministry at Memphis Theological Seminary

Carmichael Crutchfield is the Clara Scott Chair of Church and Ministry Professor of Christian Education, Spiritual Formation, and Youth Ministry at Memphis Theological Seminary. Carmichael has served in this role since 2016. Prior to that, they were a professor at Memphis Theological Seminary from 2009-2016. Carmichael also served as the Senior Pastor of the New Hope Christian Methodist Episcopal Church from 2001-2009.

Carmichael has a B.A. in Psychology from Morehouse College, a M.Div. from Gammon Theological Seminary, and a D.Min. from Fuller Theological Seminary.

Carmichael Crutchfield reports to Pete Gathje, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dean & Professor of Christian Ethics. They work with Chris Davis - Associate Dean of Doctoral Studies, Chris Davis - Associate Professor of Preaching and Pastoral Ministry, and Mitzi Minor - Mary Magdalene Professor of New Testament.
