Head of Curriculum Design & Training at Mentor Collective

Jennifer Kious is the Head of Curriculum Design & Training at Mentor Collective. Jennifer has also served as a Founding Academy Operations Manager, a Founding Head Coach, and a Secondary English Teacher.

Jennifer Kious has always had a passion for education and helping others. Jennifer started their career as an International Figure Skating Performer with Disney On Ice. Jennifer then became a Secondary English Teacher at Durant High School. In this role, they were responsible for teaching English to students in grades 9-12.

In July 2018, Jennifer Kious was recruited by the Tampa Bay Lightning to create and serve as head coach of their first girls travel recreational ice hockey program. In this role, they developed the program’s mission and code of conduct, created hockey curriculum for diverse age and skill levels, built partnerships across the state, and recruited new players. The program grew to three teams and a national travel team within two years.

In July 2020, Jennifer Kious was recruited by Global Prospects Academy to consult on the creation of a hybrid hockey/academic school. In this role, they were responsible for the design of all academic operations, including: curriculum design, attendance and discipline policies, academic and behavioral management systems, and student enrollment and retention systems.

Jennifer Kious has a Master's in Education and Curriculum Design from Boston University, a Certificate in Creative Writing from the Florence School of Fine Arts, and is a Double Major in Communication Sciences and English with a Concentration in Creative Writing from the University of Connecticut. Jennifer also holds Certifications from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace, USA Hockey in Coaching Education Program Level 4, The Florida Department of Education in Florida Educator's License, English grades 6-12 with ESOL endorsement, Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Massachusetts Educator's License, ESOL grades 5-12 with SEI Endorsement.

They work with Paul Hallman - Manager, Account Operations, Alicia Fontaine - Senior Director, Product Marketing, and James Morrissey - Co-Founder & President. Jennifer Kious reports to Jackson Boyar, Co-Founder & CEO.
