Sharymar Calderon

Sharymar Calderón Yépez was named Senior Vice President and the Head of Internal Audit in June 2021. She is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of its Audit plan and Risk Assessments. She is a licensed CPA in both Florida and Puerto Rico.

Prior to Amerant, Sharymar worked at Ocean Bank as a Senior Vice President and the Head of Payment Operations, where she managed a team of over 40 members. She led her team through risk assessment processes, recruitment, internal audits, compliance with regulatory guidelines, and the implementation of automation for efficiencies.

Before Ocean Bank, Sharymar worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers for nine years. She began as an Associate and rose to a Senior Manager over the course of her time there, gaining extensive experience in financial services, including banking, broker-dealers, and asset management.

Sharymar received a double Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Marketing from the University of Puerto Rico. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Puerto Rico State Society of CPAs and its Florida Chapter, and the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA).
