Norm Ballantyne

Norm Ballantyne is an experienced test and development technician at Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team since February 2020. Prior to this role, Norm served as the number one mechanic for Ballantyne Engineering LTD, focusing on electric and hybrid race cars from July 2016 to February 2020. Norm's career includes positions such as Chief Trackside Technician and Hybrid Systems Technician at Williams Advanced Engineering, where responsibilities involved building and maintaining high voltage batteries for the FIA Formula E championship. Early career roles involved race mechanic positions at Lotus F1 Team, Alan Docking Racing, Fortec Motorsport, Glenvarrigal Racing, and Terry Keys Motorsport, with a strong emphasis on maintaining and building competitive race cars. Norm holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in mechanical engineering from The Open University and an AVCE in Motorsport engineering from Rycotewood College.
