Shau Mafuna

Shau Mafuna is a skilled Powertrain Integration Design Engineer currently working with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team since August 2022. With prior experience as a Mechanical Engineer at Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains and as a Data and Systems Engineer at 2 Seas Motorsport, Shau has developed expertise in mechanical design and data systems within the motorsport industry. Educational credentials include a Master’s degree in Motorsport Engineering from Oxford Brookes University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand. Leadership experience includes serving as Suspension Lead for Oxford Brookes Racing, where Shau managed a team in the design and manufacturing of suspension systems for electric vehicles. Additional experience encompasses mechanical engineering roles at DetNet South Africa and various coaching positions in strength and fitness.
