Thomas Stone has extensive work experience in the scientific field. Thomas started their career as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at UMass Lowell from 1979 to 1981. Following that, they worked at Millipore Corporation as a Senior Scientist from 1981 to 1993. Thomas then joined EMD Millipore as a Consulting Scientist from 1993 to 2009. Currently, they are working at Merck KGaA as a Principal Scientist & Wiki Champion since 2009.

Thomas Stone pursued their education in the field of chemistry and biology. Thomas completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Chemistry at UC Irvine from 1965 to 1969. During the same period, they also obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology from the same institution. Following that, they pursued further studies at the Oregon Institute of Technology, where they earned their Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from 1969 to 1976. Later on, from 1976 to 1979, they engaged in a Postdoctoral program at UCSF Pharmaceutical Chemistry, specializing in Drug Synthesis and Bioavailability.
