Rob Garbaccio

Rob Garbaccio is currently the Vice President and Head of Discovery Chemistry at Merck, a position they have held since 2020. They earned a B.A. in chemistry from Boston University and completed a Ph.D. in organic chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute. Previously, Rob served in several roles at Merck, including Executive Director of Discovery Chemistry Modalities and Team Leader, where they led efforts in small molecule discovery and other advanced modalities. Rob also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, contributing to research on the total synthesis of cancer treatment compounds.
