Michael Boddy

Michael Boddy has extensive work experience in the energy trading industry. Michael currently serves as the Head of Trading in New Zealand for Mercuria Energy Trading S.A. Michael joined the company in 2021. Prior to this role, they worked at Mercury NZ for over 17 years, where they held various positions. As the Derivatives Manager, they were responsible for managing the derivatives team and trading derivative products such as futures, options, swaps, and FTRs. Michael held this role from April 2012 until September 2021. Before that, they served as the Commercial Manager, focusing on the origination and implementation of new business and development strategies, as well as negotiating and executing commercial agreements. Michael held this role from February 2004 until March 2012, with a particular emphasis on geothermal fields.

Michael Boddy attended the University of Otago from 1988 to 1992, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce (BA BCOM) degree. Their field of study was International Finance - Economics.
