P.eng Christopher Chu

Christopher Chu, P.Eng has a diverse work experience in the energy industry. Christopher is currently working as a Natural Gas Scheduler/Trading Analyst at Mercuria Energy Trading S.A. In this role, they are responsible for analyzing natural gas markets and providing trading recommendations.

Prior to their current position, Christopher worked at TC Energy as a Natural Gas Market Analyst. Here, they contributed to the development of commercial strategies and regulatory applications through data analytics of natural gas markets. Christopher also built PowerBI reports, created regression models, and aided in long-term supply and demand outlook.

Before TC Energy, Christopher was a Natural Gas Trading Analyst at Mercuria Energy Trading S.A. Christopher assisted in operating processing plants, conducted well sampling runs, troubleshooted and repaired equipment, and ensured site safety compliance.

Furthermore, Christopher has worked as a Production Engineer Co-op at Suncor Energy, providing well monitoring and cost tracking for SAGD assets. Christopher also worked as an IT Support Analyst at the University of Calgary, assisting in post malware recovery projects and providing end-user support.

Lastly, Christopher worked as a Business Analyst at Teck Resources Limited, where they completed a SQL migration project and provided end-user support for drilling and blasting systems.

Christopher Chu, P.Eng received their Bachelor's Degree in Oil and Gas Engineering from the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary. Christopher studied at the university from 2013 to 2018. Additionally, they obtained their Engineer-in-Training certification from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) in April 2018.

In terms of additional certifications, Christopher has received several relevant qualifications. Christopher passed the CFA Level 1 exam from the CFA Institute in January 2020. Christopher also completed various energy-related courses and programs from Mennta Energy Solutions, including "Introduction to Derivative Markets and Trading" in November 2022, "Discovering Options" in October 2022, "Understanding Basis and Correlation Risk" in September 2022, "Understanding the Value-At-Risk Concept" in September 2022, and "Understanding Energy Commodity Risk" in August 2022.

Furthermore, Christopher has acquired numerous safety certifications and training courses. Christopher obtained an "Electronic General Safety Orientation (eGSO)" from Enform, "Energy Sector Driver Improvement" from Fleet Safety International "A" Driving School, "H2S Alive" from Enform, "Standard First Aid Level C CPR + AED" from St.John Ambulance First Aid industry training & Health, "Transportation of Dangerous Goods Training Certificate" from Danatec Educational Services Ltd., and "WHMIS 2015" from Danatec Educational Services Ltd. These certifications were acquired in May 2017.

Moreover, Christopher completed additional programs including an "Aboriginal Relations Leadership Certificate" from the University of Calgary in August 2015 and the "Courageous Safety Leadership Program" from Teck Resources Limited in May 2015.
