Brian Patrick

Co-Founder & Director at Mercury Biomed

Mr. Patrick is a healthcare innovation entrepreneur and a business knowledge leader in the therapeutic temperature management, bioheat transfer, and advanced thermoregulation sectors. He brings significant, hands-on founder and executive experience to Mercury. Having founded the predecessor company to Mercury Biomed (CoolCore), and having co-founded Mercury (both spun out of UT Austin), Brian has extensive experience connecting the academic and business sectors to commercialize life sciences research.

As a Director of Business Development and Entrepreneur in Residence at Baylor College of Medicine, Brian supports the identification, evaluation, formation, and growth of new BCM companies. He focuses on early-stage development of medical innovations with disruptive, commercial potential and fostering relationships between inventors, investors, and strategic partners. Working closely with the Baylor Licensing Group, Baylor, and the BCM Office of Research, his mission is to actualize BCM’s vision to improve health through science and innovation.

Mr. Patrick holds an M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas (TX) and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Houston.
