John Dustman is an experienced operations manager and leader in various organizational settings. Currently serving as the Operations Manager at Mercy Beyond Borders since January 2024, John engages in diverse tasks ranging from research to strategic planning. Prior to this role, John was the Director of Operations at The Highway Community from January 2019 to December 2023, navigating significant challenges during the pandemic and implementing sustainable systems amidst organizational changes. Earlier experience includes the role of People Operations Lead at Apropose, Inc., where John contributed to staff culture and recruitment as one of the earliest employees, as well as serving as Director of Coffee at Red Rock Coffee, focusing on the organization's core value of Caffeine. John holds a Master's Degree in Chemistry from Stanford University and a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Wabash College, with additional studies at the University of Aberdeen.

Mercy Beyond Borders (MBB) is an international nonprofit forging ways for women and girls in extreme poverty to learn, connect, and lead. We tailor our approach to the realities of local cultures while keeping our mission constant. Through MBB, women and girls learn that they matter. We move them beyond extreme poverty by supporting their education, connecting them with one another, and equipping them with the tools to become leaders advocating for positive change. We are currently working in South Sudan, Haiti, Uganda, Kenya and have recently expanded into Malawi. Our programs include: scholarships, safe housing, micro-enterprise, literacy classes and leadership workshops.
