Alan J. Hartley

Alan is a chartered accountant by profession based in Edinburgh. He spent over 30 years working with KPMG, 20 years as a partner. Since retiring from KPMG he has taken on a number of chairmanship/director roles and is currently chairman of Mactaggart & Mickel Ltd a Scottish house building and property owning group. Alan is also a trustee/member of the audit and risk committee of a number of local and national charities and is chairman of two defined benefit pension schemes.

Alan has an unusual background for a chartered accountant. He has been a professional motorcycle racer and holds U.K. and U.S. pilot licenses. These days his excitement is confined to more sedentary roles.
