Sarah Casteran is a seasoned professional in policy and advocacy with extensive experience focused on fragile contexts in East and Southern Africa. Currently serving as a Senior Regional Policy & Advocacy Advisor at Mercy Corps, Sarah leads global advocacy efforts on the Sudan crisis while supporting country teams in implementing effective advocacy strategies. Prior roles include Regional Advocacy Adviser at the Norwegian Refugee Council, where Sarah led a significant advocacy project on neglected crises, and various positions at Mercy Corps that centered on influencing policy for gender advocacy and capacity strengthening. Previous experience also includes roles at Plan International in advocacy and communications, where Sarah developed and implemented influential campaigns, and at the Mamawatoto Foundation. Sarah holds master's degrees in Human Rights and Democratization and International Humanitarian Law, along with a bachelor's degree in International and European law.
