Steven Gordon

Steven Gordon has extensive experience in global safety and security, currently serving as the Senior Director of Global Safety and Security at Mercy Corps since April 2022, and previously held senior roles at the organization, including Interim Senior Director of Security. Prior experience includes a position as Regional Safety and Security Advisor for the Middle East with Mercy Corps from 2013 to 2018, and Deputy Regional Safety Manager at the Danish Refugee Council. Steven has also worked with Save The Children UK, acted as a safety officer in Pakistan for GOAL Ireland, and served as a security consultant with Cadre Consultants. As a freelance photojournalist for over two decades, Steven covered humanitarian emergencies and mountaineering, contributing to major publications and agencies. Academic qualifications include a Postgraduate Degree in International Relations from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Arts in Medieval History from the University of Glasgow.
