Joanna Kay

Joanna Kay currently serves as the Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at Meren since December 2023. Prior to this role, Joanna worked at BW Energy from March 2020 to November 2023, initially as Senior Legal Counsel and later as Associate General Counsel and Company Secretary, focusing on operational, project development, business development, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance for a global energy company. Joanna's legal career includes positions at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP as Of Counsel, where advisory work spanned upstream projects and LNG sector structuring across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe; and Andrews Kurth LLP as Senior Associate, contributing to setting up the London office and advising international clients in the oil and gas sector. Earlier roles include serving as Legal Advisor for Tullow Oil, managing significant transitions and acquisitions, and as an Associate at Ashurst, involved in project financing and oil and gas advisory across multiple regions. Joanna holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Cambridge and has undertaken legal studies at the College of Law in London and BPP Law School.
