Steve currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer at Meridian Restaurants Unlimited, L.C., where they have held various positions since 2022. Prior to this, Steve worked as the Business Manager at Utah State University for several departments, including the College of Natural Resources and Extension. Steve also gained experience as a Tax Associate at H&R Block Franchise and worked as an Accountant at A.H. Landram Enterprises. Earlier in their career, Steve served as a Bookkeeper at Pickett Law Office.
Steve Smith received their Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Accounting from Washington State University - College of Business and Economics in 2005. Steve then pursued a Master of Accounting (MAcc) degree in Tax & Financial Planning from Utah State University - Jon M. Huntsman School of Business, completing it in 2011. In terms of certifications, Steve obtained a Registered Tax Return Preparer certification from the Internal Revenue Service in 2011. Additionally, they obtained certifications in Financial Management from the Society of Research Administrators International in 2014 and in Departmental Research Administration from NCURA: National Council of University Research Administrators in 2010. Most recently, Steve obtained a Practice of Research Administration and Management certification from the Society of Research Administrators International in March 2019.
