Raymond Mooney

Program Director & Professor of Practice, Police at Merrimack College

Raymond Mooney is a seasoned professional in the field of criminology and criminal justice, currently serving as a Professor and Police Academy Director at Merrimack College since August 2019. Prior experience includes a distinguished 31-year tenure at Woburn Police Department, where responsibilities spanned from Sergeant to various supervisory roles across multiple divisions, including patrol, detective, and narcotics. As a former co-owner of Clarity Investigations and President/Bandmaster of IAPOA Pipes and Drums, Mooney has also contributed to police training as an instructor for the Municipal Police Training Council from 1999 to 2006. Mooney holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Merrimack College and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England University, supplemented by advanced training at Babson College in law enforcement supervision.
