Head Of Achievement And Wellbeing at Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council

Andrea May has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Andrea is currently serving as the Head of Achievement and Wellbeing at the Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council since October 2021. Prior to this, they worked as an Associate Tutor at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David from October 2021 to January 2022. Before that, they held the position of Head of Secondary School at Malvern College Chengdu from June 2020 to September 2021. Andrea also served as the Academic Principal High School and Vice Principal Middle School at Dalian Royal School/Jiahui Oak Middle School from August 2018 to June 2020. Andrea was the Strategic Lead for Learning and Teaching at Central South Consortium from January 2017 to August 2018. Additionally, Andrea worked as an Assistant Headteacher at Brynteg School from January 2007 to April 2017 and as the Head of Year at St Josephs RC High School from April 1997 to December 2006.

Andrea May began their education at Aberystwyth University in 1992 and completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1995. Andrea continued their studies at Aberystwyth University and obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in History in 1996.

After a gap of several years, Andrea pursued further education at the University of Newport from 2005 to 2009. During this time, they completed a Master of Arts degree in Education with a focus on Leadership and Management.

Recently, in 2021, Andrea enrolled in the NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship) program offered by the Department for Education: Best Practice Network. Andrea'sstudies will conclude in 2022, and they are focusing on Educational Leadership and Administration in this program.
