Stefan-Alexander Albrecht

Stefan-Alexander Albrecht, MD, PhD has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Stefan-Alexander is currently the Chief Scientific and Medical Officer as well as the Managing Director at Merz Therapeutics. Previously, they held the position of Chief Scientific Officer and Senior Vice President of Global R&D at Merz Pharma Group. Stefan-Alexander was responsible for overseeing global research and development, clinical development, non-clinical development, biotechnology, regulatory affairs, product safety, project management, medical affairs, and quality assurance. Before joining Merz Pharma Group, Dr. Albrecht worked at Boehringer Ingelheim as a Senior Corporate Medical Director for the CNS division, and at Pfizer as a Senior Medical Advisor. Stefan-Alexander also has experience working as a physician in various healthcare facilities, specializing in psychiatry and neurology.

Stefan-Alexander Albrecht, MD, PhD received their Abitur degree from Hans-Grüninger Gymnasium Markgröningen in 1988. Stefan-Alexander then pursued their undergraduate studies in Humanmedizin at the Universität des Saarlandes from 1989 to 1991, during which they obtained their Physikum degree. Stefan-Alexander further continued their education at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, where they earned their Dr. med. degree in Humanmedizin from 1991 to 1995.
