Andrew Hawken has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries. Andrew began their career as a Reporter at the Reading Evening Post, where they received training in reporting and worked as a general news reporter and Health Correspondent. After this, they joined the BBC as a News Trainee, where they gained experience in regional TV and local radio as a reporter and producer. Andrew then moved up the ranks at the BBC, working as a Today Programme producer and eventually becoming Assistant Editor of the Today Programme.
Hawken then joined MSN, where they held several roles including Head of Network Programming for MSN UK and Head of Network Programming for MSN EMEA. Andrew later became Editor in Chief of MSN US, where they were responsible for the MSN homepage and led a team of editors. During their time at MSN, they successfully shipped a major homepage redesign.
After MSN, Hawken joined Sky News as Editorial Director of the Online Product Group. In this role, they played a key part in building Sky.com as a major online player, launching new online sites, and improving the existing online offering. Andrew then became the Digital Director at Sky News and Director of Product before leaving the company.
Hawken also attended the Sulzberger Executive Leadership Programme at Columbia University in the City of New York.
Most recently, Hawken became the Chief Executive Officer of Mesmerise.
Andrew Hawken attended the University of Reading from 1980 to 1983, where they obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English Literature.
