Facebook was founded in 2004, initially as a community for colleges and universities. It has since grown into a global platform with features including the News Feed, Stories, Groups, Watch, Marketplace, Reels, Dating, all aimed at helping people share life's moments and discuss what's happening, nurture and build relationships, discover and connect to interests, and create economic opportunity.

More recently, Meta has moved into the augmented virtual reality space with Reality Labs. Meta Quest lets people defydistance with cutting-edge VR hardware, software, and content.
