Alec Hammond

Alec Hammond is an accomplished researcher with extensive experience in integrated photonics and optical engineering. As a PhD Candidate and NDSEG Research Fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology from August 2019 to August 2022, Alec developed significant work in optical strain measurements and integrated photonic simulations using deep learning. Previous roles include internships at Facebook, Cirrus Logic, and GLOBALFOUNDRIES, where Alec contributed to the development of advanced algorithms and patented innovations. As a Research Scientist at Meta since September 2022, Alec focuses on large-scale simulation and design algorithms for augmented and virtual reality systems. Educationally, Alec holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Brigham Young University, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Brigham Young University, graduating with a 3.83 GPA.
