Cao Gao

Cao Gao is an experienced research scientist and software engineer with a robust background in machine learning and hardware/software co-design. At Meta from May 2021 to September 2024, Cao Gao focused on modern recommendation system machine learning infrastructure, specifically in areas such as ML accelerator onboarding, performance optimization, and model exploration. Previously, from July 2017 to May 2021, Cao Gao worked at Google, contributing to hardware/software co-design for machine learning accelerators like Edge TPU and Google Tensor, emphasizing performance analysis and silicon architecture. Cao Gao also served as a graduate student research assistant at the University of Michigan while pursuing a PhD in Computer Engineering from January 2012 to January 2017, and has experience as a research intern at ARM and a research assistant at Zhejiang University.
