Gary Demasi has over two decades of extensive experience in data center strategy, site selection, and energy management. As the Global Director of Data Center Energy and Location Strategy at Google Cloud from August 2006 to May 2025, Gary led significant global development projects and spearheaded landmark renewable energy initiatives, including the founding of Google Energy, LLC. With a strong focus on sustainability, energy supply strategy, and organizational leadership, Gary managed teams across APAC and EMEA, while also representing Google at high-level meetings, including discussions with heads of state. Prior to Google, Gary held senior roles at Deloitte Consulting and served on the Board of Trustees for the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, contributing to ocean conservation efforts. Currently, Gary serves as Vice President of Datacenter Development & Strategy at Meta, continuing to drive innovation in the field. Academic qualifications include a Master’s degree in Real Estate from Georgia State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, English, and Art from the University of Vermont.
