Giray Özil is a seasoned technical leader with extensive experience in software engineering and mixed reality technologies. Currently serving as Technical Lead and Senior Engineering Manager at Meta since September 2019, Giray has spearheaded mixed reality SDKs and tooling for game engines and led software engineering teams focused on audio, eye tracking, and optics at Reality Labs Research. Prior to Meta, Giray held the position of Technical Director at Improbable, guiding the development of the SpatialOS GDK for Unreal. Additional experience includes founding Austral Works, engineering roles at Blizzard Entertainment, and Electronic Arts, where contributions were made to popular titles such as World of Warcraft and Medal of Honor. Giray also served as a part-time instructor at the Art Institute of California - Los Angeles. Educationally, Giray holds a Master's degree in Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Sabanci University.
