Jason Flinn is a seasoned software engineer and academic with extensive experience in the field of computer science. Beginning a career at IBM as a Staff Programmer from June 1991 to July 1996, Jason then pursued advanced education culminating in a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in 2001. A Post-Doctoral Intern at Intel from December 2001 to July 2002, Jason subsequently joined the University of Michigan as a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, where research focused on software systems for pervasive computing, novel storage architectures, and distributed systems, earning multiple best paper awards at prestigious conferences. Currently, as a Software Engineer at Meta since August 2018, Jason has been instrumental in developing novel architectures for strongly-consistent metadata storage and the large-scale distribution of content in data centers.
