Mostafa Mirshekari

Mostafa Mirshekari is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Meta, where Mostafa has been employed since August 2022. Previously, Mirshekari served as the Director of Machine Learning and a Machine Learning Research Scientist at searchable.ai from August 2020 to July 2022, where Mostafa implemented a two-stage transformers-based dense passage retrieval model and utilized AWS Elastic Inference to enhance inference speed significantly. Mirshekari also held the position of Postdoctoral Researcher at Stanford University from January to August 2020, focusing on multi-modal machine learning algorithms and achieving awards for work in nurse activity recognition. From May 2015 to January 2020, Mirshekari was a Graduate Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, developing physics-guided learning approaches for occupant detection and activity estimation. Mirshekari began their career with an internship at HOMMA, Inc., where Mostafa contributed to vision-based occupant localization. Mirshekari holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Advanced Infrastructure Systems from Carnegie Mellon University.
