Ronald Mallet

Ronald Mallet is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in software development and research. At GEIMSA from 1994 to 1997, Ronald developed a real-time operating system. From May 2006 to October 2014, Ronald served as a Senior R&D Engineer at Industrial Light & Magic, leading research in data capture, 3D reconstruction, and developing the award-winning MARS matchmoving system. Between February 2001 and April 2006, Ronald worked as an R&D Engineer and Product Manager at REALViZ, contributing to MatchMover Pro software and other significant projects. Ronald's earlier roles include software engineering positions at Thomcast, where a real-time embedded kernel for MPEG2 video was developed, and Thomson Marconi Sonar, focusing on sound processing algorithms. Since November 2014, Ronald has held the positions of Senior Director of Research at Meta’s Reality Labs and Manager of Oculus Research. Ronald holds an engineering degree in image processing from the Institut Supérieur d'Electronique de Paris, awarded in 1997.
