Umayah has a strong background in engineering and research, beginning with an internship at Siemens from May 2013 to December 2014. After earning a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2015, Umayah worked as an engineer at Visa focusing on clearing and settlements, then served as a research fellow at the University of Minnesota, studying mobility patterns. A tenure at Grammarly as an engineer from May 2016 to October 2020 followed, utilizing data skills. Since then, Umayah has worked at neo.tax as a founding engineer from October 2020 to April 2024, then at SignalFire as an engineer until March 2025. Currently, Umayah is contributing to Meta in ai infra since June 2025 and also serves as an applied ai expert at a Stealth AI Startup.
