Facebook was founded in 2004, initially as a community for colleges and universities. Meta has two messaging apps: Messenger and WhatApp. Messenger allows chat, audio and video calls, and Rooms, while WhatsApp is best known as a secure messaging application facilitating private communication.

More recently, Meta has moved into the augmented virtual reality space with Reality Labs. Meta Quest lets people defydistance with cutting-edge VR hardware, software, and content. Facebook Portal video calling devices help friends and families stay connected andshare the moments that matter in meaningful ways.
