Christoph Derrer has a diverse work experience. Christoph started their career as an Augenoptiker at niederer Optik, Fielmann, Visilab from August 2002 to February 2016. Christoph then worked as an Intern at Flughafen Zürich AG's Safety Office from July 2014 to September 2014.

In 2016, they joined the Federal Office of Civil Aviation Switzerland, where they worked as an Intern in the Sektion Safety Flight Operations Helicopter und Innovation Management Office from September 2016 to August 2017. Christoph also served as a Specialist for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) from September 2017 to October 2017.

From November 2017 to November 2018, Christoph worked for Matternet Inc as the UAV Compliance & Regulatory Lead, responsible for developing application documents according to the Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) method.

Christoph then moved to Swiss Post, where they held two roles. From December 2018 to December 2020, they worked as a Fachspezialist Drohnen, carrying out operational drone projects and analyzing potential use cases. From January 2021 to September 2022, they worked as a Fachspezialist New Business/Innovation, focusing on new business and innovation initiatives.

Christoph's most recent role is as the Head of Flight Operations at Meteomatics, which they started in October 2022.

Christoph Derrer has a diverse educational background. In 2002 to 2006, they attended TBZ Technische Berufsschule Zürich and obtained a degree in Augenoptiker EFZ (Optician). Afterward, in 2008 to 2009, they attended Akad College Zürich and earned a Professional Baccalaureate specialized in Technics. In 2009, they studied at Byron Bay English Language School and received a Cambridge First Certificate in English.

From 2012 to 2016, Christoph pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Aviation with a specialization in Operation & Management at ZHAW School of Engineering. In 2020, they focused on Auditing in Aviation at the University of St.Gallen.

Moving forward, from 2021 to 2022, Christoph attended Berner Fachhochschule BFH and completed a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) program in Betriebswirtschaft im Technologieumfeld (Business Administration in the Technological Environment). In the same institution, they also earned a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Innovation in 2022 and is currently pursuing a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Führung (Leadership) from 2022 to 2023.

Additionally, Christoph holds several certifications. In 2018, they obtained a Private Pilot Licence (A) from the Federal Office of Civil Aviation Switzerland. Furthermore, in 2021, they acquired a Remote Pilot Certificate of Competency (A1/A2/A3) from the same institution.
