Katey Grist has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Katey started their career as a Judicial Law Clerk at the BC Supreme Court in 2005. Katey then moved on to work as an Associate at Fasken, where they advised natural resource companies on indigenous, environmental, and regulatory law challenges. In 2011, Katey joined CBABC as the Co-Chair of the Aboriginal Law Subsection in Vancouver. At Nyrstar, they served as Regional Legal Counsel for Canada and the US, providing legal support to mining and smelting businesses. Katey's most recent role was at Methanex Corporation, where they held multiple positions, including Corporate Counsel, Senior Counsel, Manager of Corporate Development & Strategy, and Director of Corporate Sustainability. Throughout their roles at Methanex, they provided legal and strategic advice to various teams and oversaw corporate governance matters, sustainability reporting, and gas procurement strategies.

Katey Grist has a diverse educational background. Katey attended the University of Victoria from 1996 to 2001, where they earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Distinction, with a focus on International Business. Katey then pursued their law degree at The University of British Columbia from 2002 to 2005, earning a Bachelor of Laws (LLB). In 2023, Katey Grist obtained a Professional Certificate in Sustainability from the University of Victoria. In the same year, they also received a Climate Competent Boards Designation from Competent Boards.
