Vice President Low-carbon Methanol Supply at Methanex

Renato Monteiro has an extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Renato started their career as a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company in 1994 and later took on roles such as Business Development Associate at APTV - Associated Press Television and CF&S Practice Associate at McKinsey & Company.

Renato then joined Itau Seguros as Responsible for Car Insurance in 2005 before moving to Braskem America in 2006. At Braskem America, they held several positions including Director Planning and Strategy, Director M&A, VP Finance and Strategy, and VP Business Development and M&A. During their time at Braskem, Renato led a team of 43 and was responsible for tax, accounting, controlling, M&A, strategy, procurement, IT, and governance.

In 2014, Renato joined ASCENT-Appalachian Shale Cracker Enterprise as VP Commercial and Corporate Development for a brief period. Renato later founded their own consulting firm, Genesis Acumen LLC, where they served as the Managing Director. At Genesis Acumen, Renato specialized in strategy, business development, M&A, and venture implementation.

In 2017, Renato joined Methanex Corporation as Director Business Development and later became the Vice President Low-Carbon Methanol Supply. In this role, they led manufacturing projects, new green methanol market development, evaluated carbon capture implementation, negotiated commercial agreements, and implemented the company's first certified production of green methanol.

Throughout their career, Renato has demonstrated expertise in strategy, business development, M&A, and project management.

Renato Monteiro completed their education with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica - ITA from 1988 to 1993. Renato then pursued a Master in Business Administration specializing in Finance & Strategy from the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business between 1997 and 1999.
