Sheri Wells-Jensen

Sheri Wells-Jensen, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Department of English and coordinator of the minor in linguistics at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Along with various aspects of issues pertaining to SETI and METI, her research interests include phonetics, braille, language preservation, TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages), language creation, and disability studies. Her most recent SETI-related presentations were at the International Space Development Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 2016 and a presentation on typology, language acquisition, and the possible structure of extraterrestrial languages as part of the “Communicating Across the Cosmos” workshop at the SETI Institute in 2014. Dr. Wells-Jensen also coordinates BGSU’s graduate certificate in TESOL and teaches courses in general linguistics, applied phonology, and applied syntax. She is currently consulting with Scholastic Books on the creation of a language for a children’s book series.
