Dan O'Shea currently serves as the Chief of Police at Metra Commuter Rail since March 2024. Prior to this role, O'Shea was the Public Safety Director at Montel Technologies, LLC from August 2022 to February 2024, and held the position of Senior Manager for the State of Illinois at Motorola Solutions from May 2021 to August 2022. O'Shea's extensive law enforcement career includes serving as Chief of Police for the Rockford Police Department from 2016 to May 2021, and as Bureau Commander at the Elgin IL Police Department from 1999 to April 2016. O'Shea began a career in law enforcement as a Police Officer in the Village of Addison from 1989 to December 1998. O'Shea holds a B.A. in Management in Law Enforcement from DePaul University and has also pursued education at the University of Notre Dame - Mendoza College of Business.
