Wes Becton was appointed to the Metra Board of Directors in July 2021 by the Chairman of the DuPage County Board.
Mr. Becton is CEO and co-founder of George Washington Street Partners, a consulting firm that specializes in business consulting and executive leadership coaching. His practice provides services across a broad range of industries working with business leaders seeking to grow and optimize their potential.
Prior to founding his consultancy, Mr. Becton spent more than 20 years in the health care industry as an executive specializing in multi-specialty physician practices and surgery centers and eventually serving as president of an ophthalmology practice. He also taught leadership and organizational behavior for 13 years (2005-2018) as an adjunct faculty member at Lewis University and is a frequent speaker and lecturer on the topics of leadership, diversity, and innovation.
Mr. Becton has significant governance experience and serves or has served on several for-profit and nonprofit boards, including as trustee and chair of the Enrollment Management Committee at Elmhurst University and as former chair of the Board of Trustees at Northeastern Illinois University. He continues to serve on the board of the DuPage Foundation, New Directions Housing Corporation and Pan American Bank.
He has earned degrees from Valley Forge Military College, George Washington University (B.A. International Affairs) and Lewis University (M.B.A. Healthcare Administration). He is also a Professional Certified Coach, a member of the International Coach Federation and is certified to administer a number of executive assessment tools (DISC, EQ, Energy Leadership Index and the Hogan Series).
Mr. Becton is a distinguished veteran of the U.S. Army with service as an infantry officer in Korea and as Commander of the U.S. Army’s Honor Guard Company.
He and his wife of more than 30 years reside in Elmhurst. They are the parents of three adult children and the proud grandparents of two.
