Brian Armstrong

President & CEO at Metria Innovation

Dr. Armstrong is president and co-founder of Metria Innovation, Inc. and is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Brian has his Bachelor of Science degrees in Physics and Mechanical Engineering from MIT, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Robotics) from Stanford. He has extensive experience in spatial sensing, estimation, robotics, and real-time systems, and has worked with a number of spatial sensing modalities, including microwave, array-Doppler radar, and, for the past 8 years, the development of Moiré Phase Tracking. He has published over 80 papers and presentations and holds 12 patents and patents pending, including several for single-camera 3D motion capture. Dr. Armstrong was previously the CEO of MetriCam, Inc., and earlier the Chief Technology Officer of Go Sensors, Inc. He has directed the development of Moiré Phase tracking, including a multi-year project that achieved a 720 times speedup of MPT image processing and adaptation of the technology to operate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners.
