Irwin Lazar has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry as an analyst, providing guidance to IT leaders, vendors, and service providers. Irwin began their career in 1995 as a Network Manager at SAIC, followed by a role as a Network Consultant at Network Evolutions Inc. in 1996. In 1998, they were a Senior Consultant at RPM Consulting and a Senior Analyst at NetReference. Later that year, they became a Senior Analyst at Burton Group, where they led coverage of VoIP, Video over IP, Unified Communications, and related technologies/products, services. In 2000, they were a FutureNet Conference Chair. From 2006 to 2021, they were Vice President & Service Director at Nemertes, where they led coverage of workplace collaboration including unified communications, video conferencing, and contact center/customer engagement. In 2021, they became President and Principal Analyst at Metrigy. Additionally, they served in the United States Army Reserve from 1992 to 1998 as a 1st Lieutenant, Ordnance Corps.

Irwin Lazar holds an MBA from George Mason University's School of Business, which they obtained in 2001. Irwin also holds a BBA in Management Information Systems from Radford University, which they obtained in 1992. Additionally, they hold the CISSP certification from (ISC)².
