Peterson Derek is an experienced police constable currently serving with Metro Vancouver Transit Police since July 2023. Prior to this role, Peterson dedicated 30 years to the Vancouver Police Department, where responsibilities included serving as a police constable and acting as an emergency operational planner. In the role of emergency operational planner, Peterson managed and coordinated staffing for both annual events, such as the Celebration of Light and marathons, as well as spontaneous events like protests. Education was received at Douglas College.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police
Metro Vancouver Transit Police is the only police service in Canada that is dedicated to policing a transit system while aiding in the provision of justice and enforcement of the laws of British Columbia. Transit Police jurisdiction is the entire transportation service region, including 144 km of rail, 63 stations, over 1,500 buses, 200 bus routes, and one passenger ferry route – an area crossing twenty-one municipalities and one First Nation, served by a combination of seventeen independent police forces and RCMP detachments.
