Matthew Wye

Matthew Wye is an experienced banking professional currently serving as the Director of Lending Operations at Metro Bank (UK) since November 2013. Matthew oversees a team of approximately 150 colleagues in mortgage origination, underwriting, servicing, and commercial lending operations, while managing relationships with several external suppliers and maintaining an annual budget of around £20 million. Key accomplishments include leading significant debt sales, spearheading the bank's COVID response, and successfully transitioning to offshore business process outsourcing, achieving substantial cost reductions. Prior to his role at Metro Bank, Matthew held various positions at Crown Mortgage Management, Northern Rock, and Barclays, accumulating extensive expertise in commercial lending and operational leadership. Matthew holds multiple degrees, including a Chartered Banking Diploma and a Master’s in Retail & Digital Banking.
