Courtney Buchanan, LCDC-i, has a diverse work experience spanning over two employers. Courtney began their career in 2006 at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, where they worked as an Investigator IV until July 2012. From July 2012 to June 2014, Courtney served as a Supervisor I at the same organization. In 2015, they joined Metrocare Services as a QMHP, and later transitioned to the role of Clinical Manager III in October 2021. Courtney's career has focused on providing support and services to individuals and families in need, with a particular focus on mental health and protective services.
Courtney Buchanan, LCDC-i, holds a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Clinical Psychology from Capella University, which they obtained from 2021 to 2025. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Psychology in Applied Behavior Analysis from Capella University from 2019 to 2021. Courtney completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sociology at the University of North Texas from 2003 to 2006. Before enrolling at the University of North Texas, Courtney studied Special Education and Teaching at Stephen F. Austin State University from 1997 to 2001. Courtney also obtained an Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Elementary Education and Teaching from Navarro College from 1995 to 1997. Additionally, Courtney pursued Social Work at The University of Texas at Arlington starting in 2012. Apart from their educational achievements, they have also obtained the LCDC-i certification from the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services in September 2021.

WHO WE ARE Metrocare is changing minds! We are North Texas' leading nonprofit dedicated to helping people with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and severe emotional problems live healthier lives. The primary disorders treated by Metrocare include depression, bi-polar, schizophrenia, anxiety, autism, ADD, and ADHD. OUR OPPORTUNITIES Metrocare hires psychologists and psychiatrists (bilingual and Spanish-language skills are needed and valued). We have research programs, and we train a new generation of mental health professionals for work in the public sector. OUR SERVICES Metrocare serves over 50,000 people annually. We provide adult mental healthcare services, including medication management, children and adolescent mental healthcare services, mental retardation/developmental disability services for adults and children, early childhood intervention services, primary healthcare services for families, pharmacy services, and social services that include housing services, occupational services, and foster care training and monitoring. OUR CLINICS Our 14 clinics and satellite clinics (including 7 main clinics) include two Centers for Children with Autism. Clinics are in Dallas, Grand Prairie, and Addison.
