Michael O'Brecht

Michael O'Brecht has extensive work experience in the construction industry. Michael began their career as a General Labourer at O.P. McCarthy & Associates Inc., where they worked on various construction projects. Michael then worked as a Summer Student at EllisDon, gaining experience in field engineering and surveying. After that, they joined GEMTEC Ltd. as a Soils Field Coordinator, responsible for conducting soil tests and surveys.

In 2009, O'Brecht started working at Kiewit Allarie a Partnership as a Field Engineer/Superintendent, managing construction projects and overseeing field operations. Michael later transitioned to Kiewit as an Estimator, responsible for estimating project costs. Michael then moved to Kiewit Allarie a Partnership again, this time as a Lead Field Engineer.

O'Brecht joined Kiewit EllisDon Joint Venture in 2011, where they served as a Structures Superintendent, supervising the construction of various infrastructure projects. Michael also worked as a Lead Civil Superintendent at Bird Kiewit Joint Venture, specializing in civil construction projects.

In 2017, O'Brecht joined Metrolinx as a Project Manager for the Lakeshore West Infrastructure AFP, responsible for managing multiple projects and coordinating with various stakeholders. Michael eventually became a Manager for the same team, overseeing a team of project managers and coordinators.

Currently, O'Brecht holds the position of Director in the USEP Alliance at Metrolinx, where they lead the Alliance Management Team and is responsible for stakeholder management and program integration. Michael manages a team of managers, project managers, and coordinators from both Metrolinx and partner firms.

Overall, O'Brecht has a diverse background in project management, construction supervision, and stakeholder management.

Michael O'Brecht earned an Engineer's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Brunswick, completing their education between 2003 and 2009.
