Kara Iverson

Program Technical Specialist at Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities

Kara Iverson has a diverse work experience. Kara started their career in 2010 as an Office Assistant at River City Mortgage and later worked as an Administrative Assistant at Marty Clinic from 2009 to 2014. From 2014 to 2015, they served as an Accounting Assistant at Brown & Brown, where they generated financial reports and conducted research. Kara then joined America Reads and Counts in 2015 as a Reading Tutor. In 2018, they began working at Osseo Area Schools, initially as a Teacher and Case Manager, developing individualized educational plans and delivering specialized instruction. Kara also served as an Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach from 2019 to 2021. Kara joined ISD 279 in 2018 as a Connect and Skills Teacher and later transitioned into a Case Manager role until 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Principal Administrative Specialist at the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities, where they assist customers with requests and performs administrative support tasks.

Kara Iverson earned a Bachelor's degree in Academic Behavioral Strategist from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2018. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.) in Liberal education from the same university between 2014 and 2016. In 2018, they also obtained a certification as a Licensed Professional Educational Specialist through the Minnesota Department of Education.

Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities

The Metropolitan Council is the regional planning organization in the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area. We run the regional bus and light-rail system and Northstar commuter rail, collect and treat wastewater, coordinate regional water resources, plan regional parks, and administer funds that provide housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income families. Our board is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Governor.
