Rene Antrop-Gonzalez serves as the Dean of the School of Urban Education at Metropolitan State University since June 2015. Prior to this role, Rene held the position of Professor and Goizueta Endowed Chair in Education at Dalton State College from August 2013 to May 2015, and served as a Professor of Curriculum and Instruction/Second Language Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from August 2001 to July 2013, focusing on the preparation of pre-service and in-service second language educators. Rene's earlier experience includes a fellowship at the Center for Progressive Leadership in 2012 and an Associate Professorship at UWM from 2001 to 2011. Rene holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Penn State University, a Master of Education in Teaching of English as a Second Language from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico, a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Central Florida, and an Associate of Arts from Valencia College.
