Jim Mendelson is a co-founder and Managing Partner of MGI Research. Jim was one of the first analysts on Wall Street to initiate focused coverage of the software industry during the early 1980s, and he brings his 35+ years of extensive experience evaluating software business models and strategies to his clients. He serves as an executive and strategic advisor to software companies who are considering mergers, acquisitions, IPOs, and private investment.
Prior to MGI, Jim was a partner at Soundview Technology Group which was the leading technology investment research and banking firm associated with Gartner and later sold to Charles Schwab. He also spent almost fifteen years at Morgan Stanley as one of the first analysts to initiate sell-side coverage of enterprise software across a wide range of technology companies. Throughout his storied career, Jim has been highly ranked by Institutional Investor, appeared on CNBC and Bloomberg, and participated in some of the software industry’s highest profile IPOs, private offerings, and mergers and acquisitions.
Jim holds BA degrees in Economics and English from Bucknell University and an MBA in Finance from New York University.
